Quantitative Trader / Futures Trader

Location: Chicago, IL | U.S. & E.U. Remote & Amsterdam Available for Seniors
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Guaranteed base salary + significant performance-linked upside.

The Opportunity

Ancilla Corporation has been retained by an established, highly successful proprietary trading firm to recruit experienced quantitative, systematic, algorithmic, and futures traders for continued expansion across global listed markets.
The firm is seeking traders currently working, or recently employed, at reputable proprietary trading firms with meaningful live-production experience and demonstrated ability to generate, manage, improve, or scale trading strategies.
Opportunities range from experienced individual traders to senior strategy owners, desk leads, and select established teams. Candidates do not need to currently hold a senior title. Selection is based on production performance, trading judgment, strategy quality, risk discipline, technical capability, and scalability.
For proven traders, this is an opportunity to operate on an established proprietary platform with significant capital, advanced trading infrastructure, quantitative and engineering resources, global market access, and performance-driven economics.

About the Firm

Our client is a privately held proprietary trading firm deploying its own capital across global financial markets. The firm combines institutional-grade infrastructure and technology with the speed, autonomy, and economics of an entrepreneurial trading organization.
The platform provides traders with:

  • Scalable proprietary capital

  • Advanced execution and low-latency trading infrastructure

  • Global listed-market connectivity

  • High-quality real-time and historical market data

  • Quantitative research and engineering support

  • Experienced software and trading-system developers

  • Dedicated risk, operations, and production support
The environment is performance-driven, collaborative, and low-ego, with traders given meaningful ownership of their strategies and direct access to the capital and technical resources required to improve and scale them.
For established strategy owners, the firm can evaluate capital allocation, technology, engineering resources, market expansion, team requirements, and economics around the opportunity, rather than forcing the trader into a predefined structure.

Markets & Strategies

The firm is interested in experienced traders across global futures, interest rates, energy and commodities, equity index futures, equities, ETFs, and related listed markets. Relevant approaches include quantitative, systematic, algorithmic, gray-box, hybrid systematic/discretionary, relative-value, directional, short-horizon, and intraday strategies. Strategies may range from latency-sensitive electronic trading to longer-horizon approaches. The primary consideration is a repeatable, defensible edge demonstrated in live production.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate live proprietary trading strategies, including execution, position management, and risk

  • Own or contribute directly to strategy PnL

  • Research and develop new signals, models, and trading opportunities

  • Analyze market microstructure, liquidity, volatility, execution, and trading performance

  • Conduct post-trade analysis and optimize strategy parameters and execution logic

  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers, developers, and trading-system engineers

  • Evaluate strategy capacity and opportunities for increased capital deployment

  • Expand successful strategies into additional products or markets

  • Contribute to capital allocation, infrastructure, and risk decisions

  • Mentor traders or build a trading team where appropriate

Qualifications

Candidates should be currently working or recently employed by a reputable proprietary trading firm and have meaningful experience with strategies operating in live production. Strong candidates will demonstrate measurable contribution to PnL, disciplined risk management, strong market-structure and execution knowledge, quantitative aptitude, and the ability to improve or scale trading performance. Direct PnL ownership is preferred for senior candidates.

Technical Skills

Python or other programming experience is preferred, or other technology acumen for example:  C++, R, MATLAB, SQL, quantitative research, backtesting, market-data analysis, or trading automation. Advanced programming is not required for every profile where the trader works effectively with dedicated quantitative and engineering resources.

Senior Traders, Strategy Owners & Teams

For proven traders, the opportunity may include increased capital allocation, dedicated quantitative or engineering resources, specialized data, execution optimization, additional market connectivity, team expansion, and customized economics. Established teams may also be considered where there is a compelling strategic fit.

Compensation & Economics

The firm offers a competitive guaranteed base plus significant performance-linked upside, scalable proprietary capital, and customized economics for proven strategy owners and teams. Compensation is structured around production performance, strategy quality, risk profile, scalability, and capital requirements.

Confidentiality

This is a strictly confidential retained search conducted by Ancilla Corporation. Candidates will not be asked to disclose proprietary signals, models, source code, or strategy IP during the initial discussion. Additional firm and opportunity details are provided to qualified candidates as the process progresses.

Interview Process

Confidential initial discussion with Ancilla, followed by an efficient interview process with senior trading leadership and relevant quantitative or technical stakeholders.
